
Vardalos need not have concerned so much. The movie went on to become one of 2002’s biggest indie hits, scoring $368 million at the box office (from an initial $5 investment) and creation Vardalos an overnight star.

But, with the exception of a blink-and-you’ll-miss it follow up called “Connie and Carla” , she seemed to disappear almost as quickly as she inwards.
